Generic Musing

they say

life should be eaten

like an apple a day

one bite

one blink

one exasperating

turn of event

at a time

but I say

life is about

as appetizing

as a presidential

lame duck

as precious as

a rude child

and about as

easy to follow

as the directions

given by a stranger

in the strange land

I chose as

a vacation spot

but then just

when I think

I have existence

pegged

it pulls out all

the stops

and high kicks

like a

Radio City

Rockette

giving me

a glimpse

and who can

argue with that?

Show Stopper

next time

I will not throw

the fight

or shy from

the limelight

or skip the dessert

or leave at

intermission

or ask for

permission

to kiss

my date

with destiny

no, I will

speak up

chin up

and I will

be damned

if I will not

step up

to the podium

and throw

away the speech

and reach

down deep

into my gut

for the real raw

and right stuff

and I will

bare everything

including

my sold soul

and it will be

like the full monty

swan song

of an aging

Chippendale dancer

whose buttock

could use botox

as he moons

his glittery world

of girls

goodbye
