Don’t Drink the Water

In Poetry on June 26, 2013 at 3:03 pm

White Man is

Black in his ways,

darker than the

Innocent he hunts.

His bullets sharper than the

blades that fight them,

His cold smiles and

False Friendship

more dangerous than

Arrows.

You could listen hard,

never hear the cries, but

When you stand with your feet

in the water,

The cool liquid passing

between your aching toes, your

skin will turn

Red.

The blood still flows fast there.
