Liquid Language

Poetry is a virus that lies dormant in me,

beneath the frozen soil of my skin,

until the sudden quivering bloom of liquid language

ruptures my thawing flesh in a bloodletting of the pen

that splatters the blinding-white ice sheet of the page

with a code blue of black ink and purple prose.
